Although recognition has increased significantly in recent years, and although prevention is fully covered by health insurance companies, many women are not using this option. "If you belong to them, do not hesitate and visit your gynecologist. If you do not have one, talk with your friends, GP or medical insurance company, where they will provide you with information about doctors that can sign up," urges Dvorak.
Regular gynecological visits should be addressed not only by young women, but also by older people who no longer treat contraception or pregnancy. Cervical cancer at the advanced stage is often diagnosed with these older women who stopped practicing gynecology, says Dvorak.
HPV tests: a modern supplement to prevent cervical cancer
The HPV test is a more modern and automated method that specifically detects the presence of types of high risk HPV infection. DNA analysis of cervical smears can accurately determine the presence of HPV and determine more precisely the degree of cancer risk. In contrast to traditional cytology, this test makes it possible to detect the presence of HPV infection long before the precursor or changes in tumor cells due to its effect.
The information that a woman receives through this test can make a significant contribution to determine the risk of developing cervical cancer in the future. If a woman learns in time that she is at risk of suffering from a disease, it can be followed closely. If, on the other hand, you learn that HPV infection is not present in your body, the risk of having a cancer associated with HPV infection is very low even in the coming years.
The HPV DNA test is available in the Czech Republic for all women who are interested in gynecology. Health insurance entities HPV tests should only be paid to patients whose cytological outcome is out of the ordinary and in other cases, for example, in women after the treatment of changes prior to birth in the cervix. HPV DNA tests are only exceptionally recommended for women over 30 years of age.
