JERUSALEM – Israeli military raids accused five soldiers who seriously abused two Palestinian suspects detained.
The Israeli military said in a statement Thursday that on January 8, the soldiers "beat the Palestinians while clapping, beat them and used blunt objects against them while they were handcuffed and bandaged."
The Palestinians were arrested on suspicion of helping armed men involved in a firing of the West Bank that left two Israeli soldiers killed in December.
The army spokesman said the soldiers faced accusations of "aggravated abuse and serious injuries in aggravated circumstances." It was not clear what was the maximum penalty for the charge.
The military prosecutors asked that the soldiers remain under arrest until the end of the processes.
