Lada will leave the European market for at least a while, reports the Russian edition of Autonews, referring to the press service of AvtoVAZ. Reason: ecological standards.
The decision is linked to stricter environmental standards that the manufacturer is not prepared. The press service of AvtoVAZ explains that the European market is out of time until a solution is found. One option is a global model that will be developed in collaboration with the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi Partners of the Alliance.
As specified by Autonews.ru in the manufacturer, the maximum CO2 emissions allowed in the European Union should not exceed 120 grams per kilometer. For lada cars, they are taller and, in the future, the norms will only become more rigorous and, from 2020, the cars will not surpass 95 g / km.
AvtoVAZ is one of the largest Russian car exporters, rising 57.5% in 2018 and delivering 38,000 Lada cars to its partners.
In Europe, Lada cars could be bought in Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Lithuania and Hungary.
