One in three Frenchmen is sleeping ill and there are ten million to take sleeping pills. Studies show that we do not sleep enough. Less than six hours for a third of the French, while we need between seven and eight hours of sleep on average.

Most worrisome, children and teens are also affected. This happens because parents return at the end of work and delay the time of sleeping children to take advantage of them, or by the multiplication of screens in the teens' rooms, which goes back to sleep. Result: 1:30 to 2 hours of sleep for teens and half an hour for the younger ones. While on average, four-year-olds need an average of 12 hours of sleep, 10 to 10 years, and 8 to 18 years of age.

Is it serious not to sleep enough? According to Sylvie Royant-Parola, psychiatrist and president of the Morphée network, dedicated to the management of sleep disorders, this can generate important repercussions in everyday life: attention and learning disorders in school, behavioral disorders: restless children, irritable teens, changes in behavior humor, not forgetting the risks of obesity or diabetes, as well as a decrease in immune defenses. In short: it is necessary at all costs to avoid the lack of a dream to be established in duration.

So how? The Morphée network has launched a website dedicated to sleeping under the age of 18, with specific solutions validated by a scientific committee and discussion forums. A rule to remember is the regularity of sleep rhythms. For younger children, it is necessary to put children in bed in a fixed time, to avoid also very exciting games at night and to think about creating a ritual of falling asleep to make the child safe. This ritual should be short, otherwise the child will feel that he does not want to leave him alone.

Teens will always try to push the limits and, therefore, the time to fall asleep. It is up to parents to impose a regular sleeping time. And on the weekend, there is no way to let your child sleep until noon. Two hours of sleep, no more, otherwise the biological clock will drink. And it is imperative to teach teens to disconnect screens at least an hour before sleep.
