They participated in the study 900 stoppers. 18 percent of people who stopped using electronic cigar were still arrested after a year. In smokers who used other drugs, 10 percent still stopped after a year.
Many people use vaper as a cigar substitute, if they want to quit smoking. "Others also use it on the side of their normal cigarette, for example because they like the taste and can use it in many places," says a Damp-e spokesman for Editie NL.
No tar burning
According to the spokesman, the vaper, like other e-cigarettes, is healthier than a normal cigar. "There is no burning of tar, and you can decide for yourself and get into nicotine."
Jacqueline Vink, an addiction research professor at Radboud University, sees the benefits of vaper. "Perform the same procedure as with normal smoking, therefore, it takes less effort to stop the device and it does not contain tar."
Addicted to vaper
But the vaper is not a panacea, warns Vink. "18 percent stopped after one year, but 82 percent just smoked again." In addition, according to her, it is still bad for breathing harmful substances in her lungs. "In a little more, there are fewer harmful substances than a cigar, but this also blasts its chemical flavor and fragrance in your body."
And, unlike, for example, chewing gum and bandages, you quickly get a large amount of nicotine in your body. "It often happens that people instead of the cigar return addicted to a vaper, which of course is not desirable."
