As part of the environmental actions programmed in the "Cleanliness of your city" Campaign, on the occasion of the Regional and Municipal Elections of October 7th, a group of volunteers made the elimination of the electoral propaganda installed in homes and main avenues in the districts of San Martín de Porres and Puente Piedra.
This recycled material of the avenues 12 of October, Jose Granda and Primavera, in San Martín de Porres and Puente Piedra respectamente, in the afternoon It was qualified as a new raw material. Only in this group of residues were hundreds of staples, nails and bolts embedded in the electoral propaganda. Hence the importance of giving the right treatment.
"The objective is to implement adequate management and management of solid waste in each electoral process, turning this environmental action into a public environmental policy in the future," said Nancy Tuesta, director of Mirarte Peru.
He warned that there is no real commitment or legal framework that obliges candidates in general to give proper treatment to electoral propaganda, a fact that generates more trash in landfills.
So far most of the candidates have transferred their responsibility to local governments.
The cleaning day involved the dismantling of the electoral panels, the transfer to the point of collection, selection and recovery of raw materials, demonstration of responsible consumer products and training on circular economics and green business opportunities.
