Ribeiro Conceição Theater in Lamego will celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Karl Marx from November 19 to 22, in an initiative organized by the PCP's Local Council. Under the motto "II Centenary of the Birth of Karl Marx – legacy, intervention, struggle. Transforming the world", the cultural space will host an exhibition on this subject, open between 1 pm and 7 pm.
On the 22nd, at 9:00 p.m., an evocative session will be held, followed by a debate at the Teatro Nobre Hall of Teatro Albano Vaquero. The moderation is in charge of Alexandre Hoffmann Castile, leader of the Regional Organization of Viseu of the PCP.
Manuel Rodrigues, director of the newspaper Avante and national leader of the celebrations, and José Albuquerque Pessoa, regional leader of the Communists, will talk about the life and work of Karl Marx and will analyze their influence in the 20th century and the projection for the 21st century. After the speeches, there will be an open debate.
Karl Marx, a philosopher and revolutionary socialist, is considered an essential and central figure in the construction of modern societies and a fundamental part of the progressive forces, helping to elaborate the Communist Manifesto, which gave birth to the parties of this ideology.
