Dishwasher subsidy extended to holders in new peddlers of street vendors: NEA

SINGAPUR: A subsidy for the plant washing service will be extended to detainees in seven new peddlers from next year, the National Environment Agency (NEA) said on Friday (November 16).

As of January 1, NEA will co-finance the cost of a centralized steam cleaning service with holders in vendor centers, 50 percent for the first year and 30 percent for a second year, said in a press release.

At the moment, only the owners of establishments in centers of older sellers that have adopted a centralized service of washing of vegetables obtain the subsidy in the program Productive Hawker Centers.

The partners of the new vendors' centers: Ci Yuan in Hougang, Bukit Panjang, Kampung Admiralty, Yishun Park, Jurong West, Pasir Ris Central and Hawker Center @ Our Tampines Hub – do not receive the grant. All seven have centralized laundry facilities.

NEA said the subsidy will help these owners control the cost of a centralized dishwasher service.

"Last month, in addition to reviewing the contract terms between the operators and the detainees, NEA also reviewed the operating costs faced by detainees in our new peddlers. We recognize that these centers may need time to establish and create a clientele, "said NEA Executive Chairman Tan Meng Dui.

"Many of the costs faced by holders, such as service and conservation costs and table cleaning fees, are" step-by-step "rates. We hope that by extending the subsidy from Productive Hawker Centers to the service of Centralized dishwasher to homeowners, this helps them improve their operating costs in the early years as they start their businesses and help maintain long-term salesmen. "

Road holders in three existing vendor centers that have adopted a centralized dishwasher service and an automatic return system from the tray are receiving the grant, said NEA. These are the peddlers of Marsiling Mall, Block 628 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 4 and Block 163 Bukit Merah Central.

NEA said that having a centralized dishwasher service helps to save manpower and improves the cleanliness of the seller's center and the speed of rotation of the same.

"Traders can then focus on their kitchen since they do not have to worry about hiring wizards to wash their cookies, and they can also save on their utility bills," he said.

The owners of the seven centers of street vendors can also participate in an electronic payment initiative between December 2018 and August 2020. Under this initiative, transaction costs and terminal rental will be exempted for a period of three years upon registration.

Several payment schemes are offered under the initiative, including CEPAS transport cards such as EZ-Link, concession cards and NETS FlashPay, as well as mobile payment applications.
