Listen again first

Slovak IT giant Eset, after three wins between 2008 and 2010, has now completed another hatrick when he also holds the title of "The Company of the Year" for the third consecutive year. With sales of 470 million euros in the country, which grew sixteen percent year-on-year, Eset dominates the Slovakian pet sector. Even greater hegemony can be seen from the point of view of post-tax benefit. Its economic performance fell eleven percent last year, but reached a dizzying 65.5 million euros, making it almost two-fifths profitable for the sector's profitability. The continuous growth of Eset is the result of a great business execution, since the company is obviously finding and keeping customers in the challenging and changing ICT security environment. Almost all Eset sales have generated foreign markets, especially in Europe and North America. The company has traditionally been strong in research and development activities that maintains its technology at the forefront of computer security.

For the second consecutive year, a silver-haired daughter of a German rubber and plastic gaskets manufacturer in SaarGummi's doors, windows and luggage compartments, like the entire automotive sector, SaarGummi has experienced good times in recent years. The Slovak daughter has been especially successful in the last two years. The profitability of the company is above all that it has expanded its customer portfolio following the crisis guidelines and is increasingly focusing on the production of more sophisticated and higher added value stamps. The quality and efficiency of the Slovak branch of SaarGummi are at a level of competition for the entire primary group.

The third place belongs to the Slovak daughter of a German supplier of the automotive industry Handtmann Slovakia. The company is dedicated to the casting and subsequent machining of aluminum components, which are mainly aimed at German premium car makers. Handtmann Slovakia continues to grow, with sales of companies twice over the past three years. Last year, they exceeded 22 million euros when they jumped by almost 14 percent compared to the previous year. In the same period, the net profit fell by less than eight percent to 1.6 million euros. The profitability of the company is at the level of seven percent, which corresponds to the level of the entire metallurgical sector in Slovakia.

The 2018 company classification automatically includes all non-financial companies that presented their financial statements in the register or provided financial data during the last year of the week, so it can not be registered.

This year, 438 companies have been qualified that have met all the criteria of qualification:

  • completed at least three full years of activity,

  • in 2017 its sales exceeded the limit of 20 million Euros and the EBITDA was more than two million Euros,

  • During the last three years, they have had a positive economic result,

  • until mid-October they published the main management data for 2017 and the previous years with which the TRENDU evaluation model works.

After a break, he returns to the head

After the breakup of last year, when TREND handed over the Bank of the Year to VUB Bank, it is again the title of Slovenská sporiteľňa. Like the previous year, the two banks marked only a small difference in the classification. Unlike his rival in the hands of the Italian investor, the editor had a more balanced score on the pointers. The savings bank was the best in the fight against credit, and even in the case of collection of deposits, it belonged to the financial houses that strengthened it more.

As usual, it is one of the most equipped banks with capital, which is why the capital force is expected to be an important bank in the system. VUB also continued to be a strong competitor to the savings bank last year – without even helping with a strong injection as it received a year ago in the form of dividends from her daughter. The third place was defended by Tatra Banka, which mainly highlighted the profitability and ability to attract customer deposits.

New winner of the insurance

After adjusting slightly the criteria that best reflected the impact of life insurance, Allianz – Slovenská poisťovňa won for the first time the first market in the most profitable insurance market. It helps keep it as a market share, as well as an unmatched profitability. Second place was acquired by the Slovak branch of the American insurance company Metlife, which is constantly growing in the life insurance market. The triple is closed by Generali, which after taking over the brands of Genertel and the European Travel Insurance Company, is making an annual increase in the number of new customers that is required in the insurance market for large insurance companies.

The fourth car maker died

The investment of Jaguar Land Rover in a new production plant in Slovakia is one of the largest investments in the car industry in Europe in the last ten years. The investment of 1,400 million euros for the British car manufacturer of luxury that belongs to the Tata Motors Indian Holding is fundamental because it will give the new production capacities necessary to meet the global demand. They are pursuing the ambitious goal of becoming a strong international player capable of competing with the established prizes. The factory located in the strategic industrial park of Nitra has a production capacity of 150,000 vehicles per year.

Interview with Alexandr Wortberg, head of the Slovak Jaguar

In general, the company plans to hire less than three thousand people in Slovakia. Fabrika produces only one model: Land Rover Discovery, whose complete production will move from the British Isles to Slovakia in the coming months. The state automobile investment agreement also mentions the possibility of a second phase, which would increase local production to 300,000 vehicles, the number of employees up to 3,900 and an investment of another 520 million euros. However, the final decision has not yet been taken.

Book managers of the year

Michal Meško is back with the Martinus Martinus library of the middle school. He first ran for him as a programmer and gradually worked for the post of the largest Internet bookstore in Slovakia. He admits that, although he has a management education, he is not considered a typical manager and he never imagined that he would become a manager.
