New faces create new problems (SPOILERS) – Variety

SPOILER ALERT: Do not keep reading if you have not seen Episode 6 of Season 9 of "The Walking Dead", entitled "Who Are You Now?"

The post-Rick Grimes world of "The Walking Dead" came into focus with the episode of this week, introducing several new characters while offering a new look to some old ones.

Years passed from the apparent death of Rick on the bridge. Michonne (Danai Gurira) is now on the brink of the water, talking as if she were talking to Rick. As it does, the episode flashes people like Daryl (Norman Reedus), who is now living a lonely life in the desert; Carol (Melissa McBride), who is dancing a new hairstyle while serving as a "queen" of Ezekiel in the Kingdom; and the same Michonne, who is taking down an abandoned vehicle. There he finds a figurine of an old western sheriff that looks horrible as Rick.

Next, we see the continuation of the last scene of the episode last week, where a more adult, Judith Grimes (Cailey Fleming) rescued a group consisting of Magna (Nadia Hilker), Luke (Dan Fogler), Connie (Lauren Ridloff) Kelly (Theory of Angel) and Yumiko (Eleanor Matsuura). The Alexandria hunting party with Judith includes Aaron (Ross Marquand), who knows he has an artificial arm. They say to Judith that they should not bring back any new people, but Judith points out that Yumiko is hurt and says he will not return without the newcomers.

In the Kingdom, Carol and Jerry (Cooper Andrews) they help a now-adolescent Henry (Matt Lintz) when trying to repair an explosion tube. Henry is annoyed because things continue to break in the Kingdom and nobody knows enough about the maintenance to stop it and leaves Ezekiel (Khary Payton) know exactly how he feels. Henry wants the apprentice under the Hilltop blacksmith to be more useful, but Ezekiel does not want to let the boy go. Carol advises the king that Henry grows up and will need to find his own way eventually. Through his conversation we also learned that relationships between communities have been fractured since Rick's death.

Ezekiel finally accepts the learning of Henry, reason why Henry and Carol prepares a wagon and they leave the Kingdom for Hilltop. Ezekiel tells Henry that "be respectful, be responsible, be gentle and sure."

Judith leads the new group to Alexandria, where the group handles weapons. Michonne is angry that they have been recovered, but agrees to let them appear before the governing council of Alexandria to decide their destiny.

Before the advice, we learned that Magna was a waitress before the apocalypse, while Luke was a music teacher. Connie, who is deaf, was a journalist and Kelly, her sister, was a high school student who knows she serves as a sign language interpreter for Connie. Michonne joined the Magna, correctly deducing that Magna previously had been in prison for some time. She also forces Magna to deliver a hidden knife as part of the belt's buckle, something that Magna did not mention when she was told that she handed over her weapons.

On the road, Carol mock Henry telling her that they will be taking a detour before Hilltop. Henry hears a woman screaming and hurries to help, only to be ambushed by Jed (Rhys Leather) and a group of Savtags. They steal all Carol and Henry's car, but Jed is willing to let them live since they once saved her. But before he does, he demands the wedding ring of Carol. Henry can not take more and attacks Jed, but he is quickly overwhelmed. Carol hides and resigns.

Eugene (Josh McDermitt) and Rosita (Christian Serratos) travel far from Alexandria to create a new piece of radio equipment to increase the chances of discovering more survivors. Rosita does this at the request of Gabriel (Seth Gilliam), with whom he now has a relationship. They arrive at a water tower, which Eugene raises to place the equipment. Suddenly, a pack of walkers appears. Eugenio runs down the stairs, but he is forced to jump and mine his leg badly. Rosita put on a shovel as a crutch and fled.

In Alexandria, Judith is outside the window of the cell of Negan while working in mathematical tasks with his help. She asks for her thoughts about the group she brought, and he responds to him as he used to bring his lost dogs while raising the other dogs and the mother of Negan.

Carol and Henry encamp at night, with Henry punishing Carol to deliver the ring. She said she did it to protect him, but he is not satisfied with that and will sleep. Later that night, Carol flees and discovers the Savior while they slept. She covers herself in secret with gasoline and illuminates a game. Jed wakes up and promises to go and never return, just before Carol falls and burns all the alive. The next morning, Carol and Jed ride to the forest, where they meet Daryl.

Siddiq (Avi Nash) tends to Yumiko, whom he says will be ready to move the next day. That night, the new group analyzes their options. The others are angry. Magna hid her knife and now she faces her because she saw her sliding the Yumiko necklace, which also contains a hidden sheet. Magna wants to fight Michonne for her place in the community, but the others are against her.

Magna flees with Yumiko's necklace and goes to Michonne's house. But when you look through the window and see Michonne with her and Rick's boy, you have a change of heart. She calls the door and delivers the blade to Michonne. Judith watches everything from the top of the stairs.

The next day, the new group is preparing to leave. Michonne arrives and says they can not stay in Alexandria, but it will take them to Hilltop where Maggie can take them.

The episode ends with Eugene and Rosita hiding from the flock. Slide a fillet down and hide. As they do, they can hear scraping voices that whisper from within the flock: "Where are they?" They must be close. Do not let them escape. "
