Freddy Superlano, deputy of the National Assembly, denounced the death of five children at the Hospital Luis Razetti de Barinas due to failures in the supply of oxygen.
"We feel this fact and we consider that it is inadmissible that these terrible events occur, as well as what happened during the 15 hours that the hospital was without oxygen, as a result of the delay in payment to the company that provides the service," said the parliamentarian.
Superlano explained that it remains to be confirmed whether adults died.
The deputy indicated that neither Argenis Chavez, governor of the state of Barinas, nor the health authorities explained what happened in the hospital.
The politician said the hospital does not have enough portable oxygen cylinders to care for patients.
Superlane said that most of the oxygen tanks have been stolen and that those that remain are inoperative because they lack pressure gauges.
The deputy asked the authorities to address the case and informed that he would ask the Parliament's health committee to investigate the incident.
