JOHANNESBURG – Knox Mutizwa's brilliant goal against the residents of KwaZulu-Natal Maritzburg United, on the opening day of the Premiership 2018/19 season, was confirmed on Monday as the August Goal.
A moment of magic from the Golden Arrows front saw an impressive cycling shot running at the end of the game, a strike that is now a candidate for the Goal of the Season.
Mutizwa's effort, one of the 70 goals for August, was selected from a short list of 10 fan-side contenders, who chose their favorite on the Premier Soccer League website.
Other contenders included the cracking strike of Deon Hotits against the Kaizer Chiefs, Ronald Putche's win over Cape Town City's victory over LongSport United and Joseph Mhlongo's excellent effort by Black Leopards against Orlando Pirates.
Mutizwa born in Zimbabwe became the third player of Golden Arrows to win the Goal of the Month in the last two seasons of the Premiership, following the steps of Lerato Lamola and Siphelele Magubane.
